It's a BOY!!

We had our anatomy scan today, and our 13 week NT Scan guess was correct - We're having a boy! We couldn't be happier, and more excited! It was amazing to see the baby on the screen. Everything looked beautiful - bladder, stomach, kidneys, brain, spine, heart. The only thing with the heart is that there were bilateral echogenic foci in each ventricle of the heart. It's not that big of a deal because there aren't any other soft-markers that would indicate a chromosomal problem. Usually, a EIF can be a soft marker for Downs Syndrome, but when it's seen with other abnormalities, like a heart defect, single umbilical artery, or absent nasal bone. Every one of those things were perfect. I'm sure the EIF will resolve itself. But to just make sure everything is ok, we go again in 8 weeks for another ultrasound to recheck the heart; I'll be about 25 weeks then. Until them, I'm honestly not concerned about it at all, and I probably have my ultrasound/medical knowledge to thank for that.

The heartbeat sounded beautiful, and was beating at 148 bpm. In all, the baby at 18 weeks 1 day. The funny thing was, that the femur measured 17 weeks 6 days, which was fine. But the humerus (upper arm bone) measured 19 weeks 1 day!! Almost a week and a half ahead! She even re-measured the humerus, and it measured the same. So we're going to have a long-armed baby, unless he grows into it in the next 10 weeks. Lol. Matt said he'd be a good baseball pitcher, or basketball player. I'm just hoping he doesn't come out looking like an orangutan! Here are some pictures of our handsome little man. Oh yea, his name? Cael Matthew.
